Camping for The New Years in Huntsville, Tx!

Welcome to my first ever blog post!
I look forward to updating this page regularly with adventures from my life.
I have always wanted to share my life experiences in a creative form.
For 2024 I grew some balls and committed to making a blog page so I could update my family & friends with my current events. I intend to update this page at least monthly.
Hopefully more! 🤞🏽

To start off my first post; here’s several pictures from our New Year’s Eve camping trip in Huntsville! My wife, Morgan and I plus our two dogs, Jyn & Sushi, all camped in one tent for 2 nights and 3 days. It was cramped but fun. I persuaded a navy buddy and good friend of mine, Brandon, to come along and be the camp chef. My cooking skills are lost, so I had no problems being in charge of route planning for our hikes while Brandon threw down some delicious meals in his makeshift field kitchen. It was a blast to be in nature, wake up in the cold, and sit by a fire. The girls were very cold but we stayed warm with plenty of blankets, sleeping bags, and a nice warm fire!

Highlights: Day 1 we met two Texas Park Hosts that were camped across the road from us. Brandon & I took about an hour researching camp sites but did not realize how secluded we were from most others during our stay. We enjoyed the privacy! Anyways a little bit about Texas state park hosts- This is an all volunteer service that trades a RV and some basic amenities for volunteer service hours. Pretty neat idea for the future. Maybe a late retirement or twilight idea. Night 1 we had some visitors in the form of raccoons. They raided half the dog food from a gallon bag and some s’mores cookies. My bad! Hahah. Whoops! There were no fireworks to celebrate but we did have s’mores. On day 2 Brandon & I hiked most of the perimeter of the park, about 7.5 miles in 3.5 hours w/Jyn!

To wrap up this first post I have to first thank my wife for being the rock she’s been for me and supporting me while I have been healing. Without her I wouldn’t have had the space to be as happy as I am now, thank you baby! 😘 Next I have to thank my dogs for being wonderful & MOSTLY well behaved companions. Y’all are both good girls! Third I have to thank Brandon for being an instrumental part of the entire weekend and camping trip. Great food, great company, and plenty of laughs.
Wait and see what’s next for us.
Lastly I want to say thank you God, thank you Universe, thank you Nature.
peace & love& gratitude – Arata
